sounds concerning. Why the move at all and is the US government trying to strong-arm Crypto.com without directly suing them?
Prepaid Visa is moving to a Community Federal Bank for the purpose of expanding credit union services to customers. The move is not related to Crypto.com's operations and there is no indication that the US government is attempting to strong-arm Crypto.com through the move. Community Federal Bank is a recognized leader in the field of providing credit union services to consumers, and this move will expand those offerings to prepaid Visa customers.
Please explain what part if their operation makes them Federal? So far all US Federal government has done is attack Cryprocurrency companies with heavy regulation. What was wrong with the services Metropolitan provided for many years? Card has worked flawlessly for.many years now a sudden change in a hostile Cryprocurrency environment to a Federal Bank? My hair stands up thinking about it.
As far as I know,The main issue with Metropolitan was that it provided services to customers dealing in cryptocurrency, which are activities not regulated or regulated very ambiguously by the federal government, putting it in a kind of legal limbo. Since 2017, the US government has begun cracking down on cryptocurrency companies, introducing greater scrutiny and more regulations. This put a great strain on Metropolitan’s business and caused them to shift to providing banking services and becoming a federal bank.
Metropolitan and Community Federal are completely different banks.
Metropolitan Federal is an online-only bank, offering business checking, savings, CDs, money markets and more. It is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and is a division of First Utah Bank.Community Federal is a full-service brick-and-mortar community bank based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It offers banking products and services such as checking, savings, loans, mortgages and investments.
