you forgot to put the /. it's sudo rm -rf --no-preserve-root /

at this point doing chmod 777 -R / would be more fun. The damage would be devastating aswell but the bomb will be timed instead of exploding right ahead

try chmod 007 -R /

dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/sda is also a good one to fix things when nothing works :D
