are you dual booting? It looks like the windows bootloader broke. You can fix it with a windows CD, then you have to rebuild grub with a live CD.
On my system I get better battery life with GNU/Linux. Have you installed anything for power management?
Does lvm check the checksum of data coming from drives though, so you know if a drive is lying?
Does having a bunch of VMs on my server make it a hydra?
why aren't you letting it set up the partitions for you?
Have you done anything with that ubuntu install?
did you boot to the install cd as mbr or efi?
Did you have any snapshots of the ZFS pool?

Are you using the full path?
Have you written anything to that disk?
Is that a fresh install with no data?
What soundcard do you use?
