Hi @soravis , some community members noticed you have been

less active on socials recently - just wondering: how are you doing? Can you perhaps share a little on what you are working on right now.

Hi guys, happy valentines! This issue actually has been raised before but I will answer here again. We at band are still working hard to make sure our oracle is operating with 100% accuracy and 100% uptime given the high stake of values we are currently securing. Team has been working around the clock to secure new partnership, expand to new chain, while making sure we retain previous projects that utilize us. From a marketing standpoint, yes we have been rather on a more quiet front compared to other 'hot' projects (NFT, L1, algo stablecoins - you name the current narrative). There are many reasons for this 1. market decides what to pay attention to, as opposed who tries to shout the loudest. This is sort of out of our control as well. What we can control is continuing to provide update on each partnership and how current oracle operates. 2. on the team front, yes i'm not a good marketing guy nor I want to be one. I'm not the type to shitpost and gather attention. However, we also recognize the importance of that - and we are working on onboarding both new member and old member like Cath (she's been lurking around and reply every now and then, because she too is very tight on working with our partners). It takes a lot of time to onboard the right people and i think we are in the process of doing that. Having mention that, I would focus more on the project itself as opposed to the megaphone because i think its irrelevant long time 3. as for myself, my perspective is band oracle has been fully functional for many years. Our focus right now is to make sure our next tech update stays relevant for many years to come (not an easy problem), while removing the single point of failure - that's why we don't put emphasis on any particular team member including me. Our goal is to decentralize band as much as possible, which is why i am participating as one of the community members as well (similar to MakerDAO and many other decentralized protocol). This is what we want from the beginning and we are in the process of doing that. Thanks again for raising the point, and hope this clarifies some of the question why I have been more quiet on the social media front. We will improve as we progress, but again remember that we are all part of the same community and please feel free to let us know if you want to take part of representing band. Anyhow, this is rather getting too long for a Valentine's post. Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning, thanks for the update but one question about decentralizing the project - are you suggesting that the project itself (team, etc) be decentralized, or the oracle infrastructure?

Thanks for the message Soravis, it's appreciated. I hope you'll be able to come back again soon with more news, and that Catherine too will be able to be more present going forward. Don't forget the roadmap, too, there's a lot of people looking forward to it! 👍🙂

Very well, it doesn't take much to resolve some doubts. People understand well when there is serious work, you just need to reassure them and be heard more. I appreciated the intervention and I will personally support the project as much as possible

Thank you @soravis for taking out some time to update community. Very much appreciated and proud to be a band jedi…🚀🚀🚀Happy Valentines eve 🙏🙏

Floating an idea: Giving an option for validators to get paid in stablecoins backed by Band inflation rewards. In this way, the inflation rewards are locked up in the contract, rather than entering circulation.

Interesting concept, however who would pay for those stable coins? People staking band generaly believe in the longer term value of the asset. If you get paid in stable coins you'd lose out on potential longer term capital gains. So for the validator it isn't necessarily preferable to go that road;)

Any chance you could comment or provide thoughts on my question about decentralizing the project? How does that work for something like an oracle network. Will they keep full time employees or is it up to the community to keep things going

Sorry bud, forgot about your question. While the details need to be worked out, the basic idea is that the team will bring the project to a level of technical maturity, and provide development tools and documentation to make it easy for anyone to add new data sources, integrate their project, etc. The governance of project will be left to the community who can vote on proposals put forward by other community members.
