PART V ACQUISITION AND POSSESSION OF NON-FIREARMS Acquisition and possession of non-firearms. 21. The acquisition or possession of non-firearms is permitted only in the cases and subject to the requirements and conditions laid down in this Part. Acquisition, possession or use of certain categories of nonfirearms. 22.-(1)(a) Subject to paragraph (b), it is prohibited to acquire, possess or use - 13(a) of 91(Ι) of 2005. (i) any non-firearm, except weapons that may be used by municipalities or other competent authorities exclusively for anaesthetising or killing animals; (ii) any weapon of a class or type specified by the Council of Ministers by notification published in the Official Gazette of the Republic; 13(b) of 91(Ι) of 2005. 19(a)(b) of 10(Ι) of 2021. (b) The Chief of Police has power to issue, following an application, a licence for the acquisition, possession or use of a weapon stated in sub-paragraph (i) or (ii) of paragraph (a), specifying on such licence the conditions of possession, if satisfied that there are no grounds to the contrary in respect of public order or security and upon payment of a fee of fifteen euros. 13(c) of 91(Ι) of 2005. (c) A person who fails to comply with any provision of paragraph (a), without the licence authorisation issued under paragraph (b), shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable, on conviction, to imprisonment not exceeding two years or to a fine not exceeding five thousand one hundred and twenty-five euros (€5,125) or to both.
