I was talking with a btcfag and he said that:

"Centralization in LN takes place in large channels, that is, but you can simply open a direct channel and get away from it. and in BCH you are in the hands of the miner... Not in BTC, who is in charge of BTC is the NODE."

Is he wrong or re debunked our community?

Ask yourself how the node can be in charge when it can be routed around and the miners create the blocks. The suggestion that nodes for nodes’ sake do anything is core small block propaganda.

he is wrong, LN does not provide scaling. "opening a direct channel" defeats the whole selling point of LN as a scaling solution. If you "open a direct channel", you have to do an on chain transaction so you're back to square one. Layer 2s have been a disaster on BTC. There's probably op codes and stuff that would make them work a lot better in theory, but don't hold your breath waiting for them.
