Why do I need confidentiality in monero on my part

So you know the full record of every transaction with the cash fiat you use? Or do you think cash is anonymous? Therefore you've already been complicit with cash. Privacy and civil liberty is a god given right - completely removed from 'dirty business'. Please go and educate yourself.

Most governments worldwide identify intelligent, independent, critical thinking human beings as engaged in "dirty business" - it might have been a little difficult to understand maybe a few decades back for many of the less bright individuals out there, crystal clear now, especially after these last 4/5 years.

Here is very high level answer most people doesn't seem to be able to grasp: The state isn't just pure abstraction which create neutral laws, the state is monopolist agency in anarchy who claim legitimacy either on the grounds of buying votes or national mythology or religious authority. Whatever justification used for legitimacion of the state is irrelevant, it always been and always will be monopolist corporation under anarchy. There is no objective law, state made laws are nothing more than capritious decrees of monopolist agency under anarchy. The state itself is bound nothing but their own promise, hence existing in anarchy vis-a-vis itself. Since the state, as monopolist agency, always want to expand its power at expense of everybody else, it's power only limited by push back from people who care about their liberty. So if you don't push for financial freedom, internet freedom, freedom of movement, you will have neither of this. 99% of people seem to be incapable to grasp it.
