I actually found using a DAG instead of a chain very interesting when I saw it in gbyte or whatever coin tried that back in the day. I just never got to a point where I was able to evaluate proa and cons, which I'm sure there are tons. At it stayed at "interesting". My hunch is that it adds a lot of complexity with no great upside to show for it, but I could be wrong.
