There's a good overview on it here: https://substack.com/home/post/p-147900912. Essentially Nano is incredibly efficient. Everything is optimized towards being as efficient as possible in confirming transactions, and the more transactions are done the lower the energy usage per transaction becomes. I'm not sure it's the "most eco-friendly cryptocurrency", just because I find it hard to compare with everything, but it can do literally thousands of transactions using less energy than a lightbulb does. It's also more efficient even than traditional card payments, for example.
