The gist of it is that it was always said

link nodes can only be paid in link and will use link as collateral.
Now IF arbitrum validators are indeed link nodes, then they now work with ETH as collateral and are paid in ETH. So why is link needed?

Link is needed as an incentive. Why not just use eth? Because then the team will have no funding.
