of doing 50 million transactions for $10...doesn't HBAR have the same thing?
This is likely the case, and that does seem like a dishonest measure at Solana. There is a University College London presentation (from before they joined the Hedera Council) about this kind of internal goosing of the TPS on XRP and other platforms (not Hedera... Hedera is not counting consensus operations as TPS so far as I know)
It’s a bit ridiculous if that’s how they count transactions. But if it’s not I really battle to see where the transaction volume is coming from. I scrolled through use cases and can’t see big well known brands.
They are not doing 2000 Txns per second - nothing close. They count every node communication as a Txn -which means they do a tiny fraction of that. And most of the Txns come from a game in the sol exosphere- which appears to be largely played by bots.
That’s actually disgraceful. But I guess they’re saving it proves a concept. The transaction fees are super low though. But I wonder if the transaction fees then also get multiplied by all the internal ping pong.
I've heard that in context of other systems. I don't know about Solana specifically. The Hashgraph is unique in that the virtual voting is extremely cheap because of only requiring the two hashes. All the traffic needed to reach consensus without that would be huge.
