and published on Sep 13 by Pranay Mohan is not clear. It says that "Optics is neither a custodial bridge, validator-based bridge, nor header relay." So how is pUSDC (for example) minted on the Celo Blockchain? Let's say: I send 100 USDC on Polygon to the Optics Bridge , and after 4 hours, the Optics Bridge correspondingly give you 100 pUSDC on the Celo Blockchain without 'custodying' the original 100 USDC??
How can Optics Bridge not be a Custodial Bridge? This sounds dangerous??? especially to a new user reading it. Because it can imply that the 1 million+ pUSDC on Mobius right now is not backed by a custody of anything?? Please help to illuminate.. the concept of Optics not being a "custodial bridge". Thanks...
Let me check on that.
Thanks Noel; can you just additionally feedback that perhaps a medium article of Optics Bridge can be written out differentiating the different types of bridges. comparing and contrasting the various types of bridges in a table format , so that new-users reading can immediately distinguish/see how Optics Bridge is unique in its attributes. The left column of the table has attributes in its rows, and the right column of the table can have written details, or just a simple tick or cross of whether that attribute is applicable to that defined category/type of a bridge.
