Hello Community, Hedera Global Council unexpectedly decided to open source

Hashgraph Consensus Algorithm. Do you think they could decide that the council is no longer to be composed of 39 members but rather less or more? Or even that instead of 3 years of membership, it is 10 years council membership? I did not expect this kind of decision being taken before all the 39 are in.

Discussed to death in here and Reddit. There are some very good reasons Hedera took the step signalled by both Leemon and Mance over the last year. And while it’s speed has surprised some those reasons are valid especially when you consider Hedera is about to go to war with the crypto market and doesn’t need this issue (of patents) constantly pulling it back. Leemon and Mance both sing the same tune and I buy it. It’s basically this: ‘There was a time when a patent was necessary to prevent forking’ it always came at a price in terms of adoption ,having that patent, and we have now reached the point when the patent is no longer required to prevent forking. So why would we continue pay the price?’

Agree!! The patent was pretty close to a non-starter to many crypto developers. Now they have no excuse to not explore the power of Hashgraph. Let’s welcome them
