such slow progress. i've been in crypto 3 years and nothing happened. my gut instrinct is stringing people along like ada with painfully slow development but I like privacy is it equivelant to btc mining zcash in terms of reward? would it be feasible to from a european country with high energy costs?

Test-net is for testing the code, not Hacking Up stuff. If you read the implementation docs of NU5 you'll realize how much math exists to make trustless money possible. Many cryptographers have applauded ECC's efforts to formalizing zero knowledge deployments.

Zcash is working towards PoS migration, it might take 2+ yrs and there's more than enough time for miners to accumulate ZEC to take part in operating a private staking pool.
