how do you know value of sgd? do you calculate it on the sgd/usd or sgd/gold or something, or just see how much is 1sgd worth in shop?

Because there are exchanges for USD, Pound, Euro, etc. I will get to about inflation if the government printed 4 trillion SGD in last month. I will see the value in exchange going down. If I was living in North Korea and there was no exchange rate info, even if the government prints 4 trillion currency I would be clueless about its value. But I will understand the value depreciation when others are ready to offer more to a loaf of bread in the common market place. So common marketplace is the second information point from where i can understand the value of my currency. This will not work in the case of XMR, because there is no common market place. Everyone is selling to everyone else and is secret about the transaction . So there is no way of assessing the value of XMR. There are only 2 ways of finding the value of a currency. (1) Direct method from exchanges (2) Indirect method from the common market place. XMR will soon reach a stage where there is neither exchanges or a common marketplace. You will be sitting clueless with your bag of XMR speculating about its value to be anywhere between 1 burger to a 1000 burgers
