So 50,000 HbarX @ 1.005 = 50,250 = 250 Hbar

rewarded daily? So… 250 x 90 days = 22,500 extra free Hbar coins rewarded? Looking at 22,500 free Hbar’s in July??? Is that how it works?

In this example of a person staking 50,000 HbarX, are they really looking at possibly 20K free Hbar’s? Or am I way off?

You would actually calculate your rewards by the increase in the exchange rate over the total staking period. In reality, at the end of June the exchange rate could be somewhere between 1.1 and 1.15. Therefore, if you staked today, you could expect a total return of 10% to 15% (annualized at 40% to 60%) on the tokens you staked.

That’s right where my back of the napkin prediction hit before we started. But participation has been a little less than I guessed so I’m optimistically hoping to push up to 15-20% return by the end of June. EDIT: But I think we’d have to stay under about 260mil ish for this and that looks like it’s not going to happen. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I actually think your original pick will be good. If you put the catastrophe risk to one side (e.g. a hack), the biggest risk from staking is tying up your tokens for 3 months in order to get a 10% to 15% return over that period. As we all know, a good swing trade could net you that in a day or two if you are a trader and make a good call. As we get closer to the unlock date I suspect that we’ll see the TVL grow quite quickly as the “time value” risk diminishes. Basically, you’ll see tokens in the “trading” basket get staked to pick up some easy returns which will reduce the yield on rewards substantially during June. Right now, it’s the risk takers getting the big returns. We can just hope that lasts as long as possible🤞
