anniversary with Flexa (belated thank you for the notes, texts, and calls!).
Celebration is central to yearly anniversaries for work, birthdays, relationships, and other life milestones, but there’s a philosophical component to these events, too. Anniversaries have an inherent opportunity for reflection - a time to stop and think about where you were, where you are now…and where you’re going.
Taking this to heart, I stopped to reflect a bit during my recent Flexa anniversary.
Last year, ~11% of US adults owned #digitalcurrencies. Today, the latest figures put that number at ~20%+ with over half wanting to spend their assets at their favorite stores. While it's true most people don't own #digitalcurrency (yet), it's the rate of growth that has many of us pausing.
An exponentially expanding consumer base continues to explore #cryptocurrency investments and payments - where will these numbers be in another year? Which brands will be supporting this growing customer segment by accepting digital currency? Flexa will of course be on hand to assist brand partners with this journey.
Speaking of brands...
Over the last year, we've increased the number of merchant and payment service provider partners working with us. Many of you saw the joint press announcements with Regal, Sheetz, NCR Corporation, InComm Payments, CITCON, GK Software SE, Aurus and others accepting #digitalasset payments through the Flexa network.
I smiled as I thought about the talented company we keep and our collective work to build products that create a better global payments system.
Speaking of product…
This last year has made me appreciate the quality-focused, collaborative culture at Flexa. The user experience, compliance framework, and product are paramount. I am incredibly fortunate to be participating in the evolution of global commerce as it becomes more secure, more inclusive, faster, and less expensive for merchants and consumers through our products.
I started my payments career helping usher in digital coupons promoting VISA card usage. Here I am, 20+ years later, working on #digitalpayments that transcend any one network or currency, and it’s exciting to help brands keep pace with the tens of millions of digital-friendly consumers.
Speaking of consumers…
There will be a day in my daughters’ lives (both Gen Z) when they won’t use physical cards to make a purchase at their favorite merchants. Rather, they’ll make a #digitalmoney transaction directly from the convenience of their phones (that already seem to never leave their hands).
My year-in-reflection goes on, but I’ll end by simply sharing deep gratitude to my Flexa teammates, clients, partners, and our supporters for the opportunity to work on the future of #payments together.
