the tools necessary to avoid the problem and that it’s the protocols’ fault for not using them. Can someone clarify this?

In the chainlink docs, under risk mitigation, this is clearly mentioned (in addition to other measures to mitigate risk). Earlier I was frustrated towards chainlink, but it seems venus needs to take extra measures to make sure this doesn't happen again! I warned about such flash crashes and corrupt data in the long past, and everytime it was ignored. When are we going to start taking serious action and procedures to protect the protocol against unforseen circumstances!?

A flaw could be that in blockchain, an audit usually only focuses on a set of smart contracts, but not on the governance and operational measures to detect and mitigate risks. Or rarely cover also the third party risks. Defining an audit scope is key to mitigate a maximum of possible risks. Also, a lot of exploits are difficult to prevent before they actually happen. Few people thought about that vulnerability on the chainlink side
