Terrible idea, I just put comment on GitHub on that under Liebenfiels, it will kill Hbar velocity and will not be used as utility token. For potential attacker it will not matter anyway if it is locked or not.
I think you're conflating 2 things - by design there will be a good portion of HBAR staked and effectively locked up, with a zero velocity. Whether there's an official lockup or just an effective lockup due to staking rewards, those HBAR are not moving frequently, if at all. Then separately there's the HBAR with high velocity - utility, paying for API calls for use cases, trading etc. We'll see how the ratio shakes out, but to say that staking on a POS network kills velocity is not really true. PS no malice here, enjoying these discussions.
FIrst of all, you are reading other comments and inserting your views which is fine. Second, you state that lockups is less secure. That is not what the common themes that have been discussed are.
Not giving any protection from the potential attacker, that is not a solution
