A while ago it was “very soon”…now it’s “being worked on”. Have things changed due to market conditions which is causing a delay? Or was many weeks always the meaning of “soon”?

welcome to the world of DeFi , where the speed of time changes. 2 weeks could be 7 months or 7 hours in normal people time.. we just dont know.

No, it's changed due to market conditions as we want to be able to have more of the sustainable gauges+pools etc live like FPIFRAX (which is already live) and a couple other things (like Fraxlend) before FPIS emissions+staking actually starts. Otherwise, it makes less sense to do things without really making use of the emissions. All projects have to be much more desciplined these days. For example, FEI recently turned off all TRIBE rewards across the board. While that is extreme and possibly counterproductive, it just shows how projects need to re-examine their tokenomics and not take things for granted.
