Would RVN consider moving algos to ethash/dagger-hashimoto? One of

the biggest things I hear people say is they love mining RVN but it produces too much heat and burns too much electricity to mine it. Switching to ethash would fix this issue.

switching to ethash will bring asics to rvn network

But ergo's algo is best for gpus

But ergo's algo is best for gpus

ProgPOW (=kawpow with slightly different parameters) is optimized to keep efficiency equal across different hardware. So, specific hardware does not have unfair advantages over others (FPGA vs ASIC vs GPU). This stimulates decentralization. The previous algo, X16r, became vulnerable to an ASIC manufacturer that acquired the majority of the hash. This centralized the chain, and left all gpu miners empty handed because profitability was gone. Everyone mines Ravencoin with the exact same restrictions with kawpow. If your equipment is getting too hot, I’d advice to underclock your hardware. Your competition will have to do the same. In addition, changing the algo is not something trivial. It involves a very risky hardfork that requires everyone around the world to change their nodes, pools, mining software, etc. And you need to be absolutely sure that no potential exploits creep into the code.
