I saw on a Sun Knudsen video that he runs tor over vpn. If you run tor the local isp knows you are using tor. If you run tor over vpn then the local isp doesnt know you are using tor. Others have said it was overkill to run tor over vpn, or even a bad idea. Im trying to understsnd the pros and cons

My understanding is typically it’s a bad idea to run Tor + VPN, but it may depend on a lot of factors including experience of the user. https://trac.torproject.org/projects/tor/wiki/doc/TorPlusVPN

It is advised by the tor project not to use a vpn with tor. If you want to hide you are using tor from your ISP then use bridges @bridges.torproject.org
