"staking" HBAR means and how I would go about doing it?
Staking on Hedera is assigning your HBAR to a node in order to help with the security of the network. On Hedera there is no risk and all nodes are currently paying 6.5% in staking rewards. To participate, you just need to hold your HBAR in one of the 5 hot wallets that are enabled for staking and pick a node.
Thanks. Is HashPack one of those wallets that allows staking? I've heard about it but currently I'm using Exodus, though my HBAR was bought on Revolut and they don't let you transfer HBAR to a crypto wallet yet. I only bought £10 worth, though next time I'll buy it somewhere else as Revolut's fees are ridiculous. Maybe I'll get it from Binance, idk.
Yeah hashpack allows you to select a node to start receiving native staking returns
Thanks. Where would you say the best place to buy HBAR is? I'm thinking I'll try Binance as they seem to have low fees but I'm not sure
Any exchange that allows you to move it off the exchange. Binance is not available where I am (US), so I don’t have experience with it. But I think it’s good???
I'm based in the UK but I believe they've made it so you can't use British Pounds Sterling on Binance because of regulatory issues, which is why I'm somewhat reluctant to use it. I think you need to buy USDT (Tether) on Binance and then use that to buy other cryptos if you're based in the UK. That's my understanding anyway. Seems like a hassle.
I'm in the UK. Fiat from Santander to Revolut Revolut to Coinbase GBP to USDT USDT to Hedera Transfer Hedera from Coinbase to Hashpack. No memo required, just Hashpack wallet address. Takes a few minutes from start to finish. Once initially staked on Hashpack, any new transfers in automatically stake. All really straightforward. Don't use any UK high street banks to on ramp to exchanges, as they limit transfers. It's a control thing. That's why you should use Revolut as an intermediary- they can't limit transfers to and from Revolut. Takes a few minutes to set up an account there. Had I have set Revolut up in time, I would have bought last Dec when it was under 4c (just couldn't get my money onto Coinbase) Instead my average is nearer 6c. Anyway, as we know, timing the bottom isn't easy.
How do I send money from directly Revolut to Coinbase?
Faster payments. Find the account number. Details will be on Coinbase
It's a pity Coinbase charge a fee. £0.99 is better than £1.49, but still.
Never had a fee for transferring money in.
Well I bought HBAR on Coinbase using Revolut
Transfer in future by faster payments. Easier and cheaper.
I only see the option to add a payment method via PayPal or credit/debit card, though that might be because I'm using the app
If you're in the uk just by it on coinbase. No need to mess around with revolut.
I can't transfer anything from Santander or buy any crypto. You can send a few grand a month but when you want to do more, use Revolut.
