oracle? I know this has been brought up before, but I just saw another project holding off on integrating sfrxETH because of it. is there something we as a community can do to encourage chainlink to get it done? we’ve been asking for almost a year, meanwhile Swell got theirs right away. what’s the process?
It's a very strange thing
I remember @Oldpaul tackled this matter head on with Chainlink Labs but I don't recall him getting any coherent answers from them.
They've been very evasive about it the entire time. The truth with Chainlink oracles is they still rely on very rudimentary and basic assumptions like volume of a pair rather than depth/price impact. Their oracle software can't even understand/read depth of Curve pools/Uniswap pairs. They only look at assets with volume limits. It's like their software is still stuck in 2018 where the only way to analyze an asset is its CEX trading volume. So for a long time, they told us that they can't support sfrxETH feed even though there's 9 figures of depth on Curve and POL on Uniswap v3 because the volume was a bit low. This is silly because we have a decentralized oracle for sfrxETH that is used for Fraxlend and crvUSD uses their own oracle with 0 issues for 10s of millions of dollars of debt. Recently, they told us they figured out how to do an sfrxETH oracle and made it seem like it was days away for the past 4 weeks. Every day it's like 24 hours away. And then another 24 hours away....etc etc. Oracle rug? What's also amusing in all of this is that between all the delays, they told us that Chainlink oracle pricing has increased by 30x! As of right now, I am not expecting or anticipating any timeframe for a Chainlink oracle. I'd recommend anyone looking to integrate sfrxETH and needs an oracle to just contact us and simply ping our sfrxETH oracle that has been working flawlessly.
Lets make a gov vote to get sfrxETH listed at a few shit CEXs that spoof volume, problems solved lol
The disappointing thing is that I am pretty sure that would work for Chainlink rather than them being able to read depth on AMMs.
Is this the issue though? At least that's a concrete reason. Otherwise does start to feel like going after Frax specifically for whatever reason.
