I have a more foundational question about Zcash. So I've

been dealing with this issue where funds are stuck on ZecWallet, and simply importing my seed phrase into something like Ywallet doesn't make all my funds visible (I'd need to manually import some addresses for example). I guess my question is, why is this? I have a lot of experience in transparent blockchains, where a seed phrase was all you needed. What about Zcash is different here?

Also, is this just a light wallet thing, i.e. if the same keys are used by a full node, is anything different?

I think so, I am not an expert on the subject and I have never used ZWL to have experience in its use, but I can tell you that the solution is there, well documented and you have months locked in the same problem.
