Why do my wallets keep losing sync? I get it

all synced up and the next day it has 2,000,000 blocks remaining...

Monero GUI, Cake Wallet, Monerujo...Happened on all 3 in the past few days.

just happened again... gui says "all synced. must wait 20 minutes before funds are unlocked"... I restart the gui and it goes back to 1800000 blocks remaining.

my goodness, by my calculations my GUI sync will take another 24 days.... Could it be because I'm saving the blockchain to an old HDD? The write speed is too slow?

I have the blockchain mostly downloaded on a SSD from an old computer. So in the GUI I changed the "Blockchain location" to that location. Now, the log is saying "Error: Couldn't connect to daemon"
