Hi there! Cartesi is an application-specific rollup protocol with a Linux runtime. Cartesi Rollups can be deployed as layer 2 (on top of Ethereum) or as layer 3 (on top of Optimism, Arbitrum, zkEVM chains, etc.), or as sovereign rollups. Being an app-specific rollups means your dApp can have its own virtual machine and will not compete with other dApps for blockspace while having the same security guarantees of the base layer that you choose. Cartesi's VM can boot an entire Linux OS, meaning developers are not limited to a specific programming language as is the case with other blockchains and they can use any mainstream language, tools, and libraries for building dApps.
