destroy Monero? They can outlaw its retail use, prevent exchanges from selling it, what else?
Maybe take over a large centralized mining pool because "tax evasion", laundering, terrorism, climate change and reason du jour?

It is not possible to ban Monero alone as long as DEXes exist. Someone can buy Litecoin from a centralized exchange and swap it for XMR. If all cryptos are banned then XMR will become a store of value + a currency.
