Not in the recent time frame but in say last 3 years. Altruism alone cannot support mining. Somebody must be making profits somehow. When you factor in the cost of equipment and electricity, the ROI is abysmal.

How can you be sure? I am taking from an economic point of view. Looks like there is a single or a group of miners who doing something sketchy. Otherwise the price, difficulty and profit is not adding up.

its not sketchy, its basic nobody invests in hardware to mine so they dont support price ; with butcoin there are companies investing in mining hw so they support price
