But who are they selling to? If it's to the real world, why use Solana? If it's all about selling the token to degens then it just looks like they are there for the ecosystem money.

She raises a valid point. To state the obvious, Hashpack user numbers are directly affected by retail interest. Maybe the team need to target some of the less shady projects built on Sol, Eth, BSc to migrate across. I mean as a legitimate business, surely you want the cheapest, fastest and greenest solution right? Unless you are solely interested in taking money off the table. For example, why are Render, a supposedly legitimate AI rendering project building on Sol despite it's shortcomings.
