We'Re thrilled to report that just over a month after

the TACo launch on mainnet, the community's response has been nothing short of amazing!

We've got 95 active TACo nodes, and the total amount staked for TACo is an eye-popping 1.56B T (yes, that’s a 'B'), equivalent to ~USD $40M! 🤯

622.3M T has been locked for at least 9 months (including the deauthorization delay), and 400M T is in it for the long haul, with lock durations from 12 to 24 months! The bonus payouts diluted T token holders less than 0.08%, resulting in a crypto-economically secured, fault-tolerant minimum population of TACo stakers until at least 2025; a resounding success, and maybe not the last commitment bonus we’ll see.

But wait, there's more! As part of our TACo beta launch, we've completed 2 revenue-generating DKG rituals for our early adopters, Holonym and Masterfile. They've each paid to employ a random cohort of 30 nodes for 6 months, earning the first TACo fees for the DAO. For those who love the nitty-gritty, the TACo nodes for these rituals were randomly chosen using an adopter provider seed, and a modified sampling algorithm was used to further reduce the risk of collusion. Various nodes that are part of a logical group were self-disclosed and used to limit the number of nodes chosen from any known group - see https://github.com/nucypher/nucypher/issues/3269 for more details.

Some TACo nodes may/may not have noticed that their node executed one or more Polygon transactions as part of these rituals. Throughout this entire process, we've gathered logs/feedback on the process. There were some failed DKG ritual attempts, and we have distilled the issues to specific, actionable items. Consequently, in the very near future, we will be rolling out a very important node software upgrade to address some of the efficiency and optimization issues that we have encountered thus far. These include:
Improved Prometheus Metrics
Reduction in RPC endpoint calls
Node optimization through caching
Better error handling
