figured it out. Same behavior on another device, but I noticed something... when the scan gets to your transaction, there will be a pop-up "z cash is shielded by default" and the only option you have to hit is "great"— my local DNS server was blocking the 3rd party they use to convert your transparent funds to shielded funds. And that pop-up would never come back after force closing the app and re-opening. Retrying on mobile network and it went through fine. Just interesting that any funds you send nighthawk get auto-sent to their shielded pool, couldn't find a way to opt-out of it
