Yes it looks like Monero is not being taken seriously by the rest of the world. We will open a proposal on the Monero Repository and try self fund it for at least one year of verification. We'll need community approval of course

With this type of thing it is usually easier to get a one off donation, but trying to cover ongoing costs is a challenge. You also need to determine who controls it and what the content will be. e.g. I will not donate (or I will regret donating) if it gets used for political posting or slutty monero-chan posting (cute monero-chan is okay imo). Like I say, you'll be formalizing a whole bunch of rules as you go, so tread lightly. Also, wait until market recovers a bit, and then ask. You can accept all donations up to X amount, then issue community member badge or something. You'll need to run all this by "the community", whoever tf they are.
