I represent Everywhere Finance, and we plan to launch a

wrapped version of Monero (omnichain thanks to LayerZero) with a liquidity pool of over a million on Uniswap.

We are looking for a way to reach the XMR community for pre-launch and to answer any questions and collaborate.

Any ideas?

There would be only one XMR wallet, with its private view key being published. For each incoming/outgoing transaction, a proof of reserve will be issued. The data for incoming transactions, such as the amount to be mined on Ethereum for example, will be public and recorded on the chain for subsequent traceability (and the same for withdrawals): XMR_Transactionhash, Date, Amount, Chain, ERC20_address.

Interesting, this might be pretty cool, but one of the main features for monero is that it is private and transactions can not be traced removing that mkaes it quite undesirable

I totally agree with you. But the most challenging point for Monero, which is reflected in its price, is the lack of liquidity for buying and the complexity of selling it. By creating a wrapped Monero, with the ability to convert it to Monero without any limitation, this would open the floodgates to all the liquidity available on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Solana, etc. I believe this would have a positive impact on the price: more potential buyers + easier to sell.

so it would be traceable, basically a way to speculate with monero

It's always anonymous on the XMR blockchain, the wrapped version will just be a way to buy & sell . And imagine you have USDT/USDC, and you want to anonymize your wallet ? Buy TXMR -> Withdraw XMR -> Do what you want

We plan to launch it on Eth first. But it will be an OFT token by layerzero, so it means you will be able to send it to any blockchain supported by LayerZero ( ethereum, arbitrum, polygon, bsc, ftm, solana... )

And ?

There is no problem. The goal, again, is to be able to sell it & buy it without the need of any CEX. When you withdraw to the XMR blockchain, you can transfer and your privacy is guaranteed

Bad idea . Even vitalik voices his dislike & safety concerns of bridges. We have ETH-XMR atomic swap that was built by Elizabeth where the contracts can be deployed on any EVM . This is live right now. Only thing missing is simple UI & liquidity . How about working to help with existing solutions instead of trying to make a wrapped asset which can lose peg at any moment due to insufficient liquidity

Can you tell me why this is a bad idea? If tomorrow XMR is no longer listed on any exchange, I don't see why having a wrapped version accessible via Uniswap would be a bad idea. For the PEG, it is the dream of every market maker and anyone doing arbitrage. If tomorrow you sell a lot of XMRT and cause the price on the pool to drop, someone else will be happy to buy at a low price to resell it on another exchange, that's how the market is regulated.

If any bridge operator gets contacted by larger forces to stop the allowance of XMR bridging due to “terrorism usage” claims , do you think they’ll honor this to save their ass or keep the bridge alive for the sake of decentralization?

The point is , bridging is not covered by any regulation around the world
