@Patrick_Ultra, are there plans to further decentralise the Ultra blockchain

in the future beyond 7 node operators?

Would love to hear the CEO’s perspective on their longterm vision for the blockchain.

Is decentralisation a high priority?

It doesn’t seem to be a topic that gets spoken about much. It’s more about how the web3 space typically perceives centralisation as a negative when compared with more decentralised chains. Is it not a question that comes up from game developers when deciding which blockchain to mint their game’s assets on? How can Ultra promise resilience/longevity of the blockchain if it does not further decentralise?

Possibly. Though if there was only 1 node operator, I’m not sure it would give much assurance to game developers of the reliable longevity of the protocol.

Sure. Thats why there are 7 producers . Could in the future be more and have some big names as block producers is a very good model imo

Haha yeah, but I’d like to think this is going to grow? If I’m not mistaken, I think I’ve even heard before that some exchanges don’t support networks that don’t have open networks for them to independently run full nodes for. I just wondered whether they are planning to open it up to independent Block Producers, without the current gatekeeping.

havent heard about the exchanges part. Exchanges want volume , thats it. We have 7 , top quality BPs. Have you seen the list? These are no ordinary BPs .. they are handpicked BPs . Ubisoft, EOSRIO, EOSSEOUL ..etc We have had nothing but good experiences with them until now. Why fix something that isnt broken? "Because decentralization" .. as long as the network is stable and working fine , nobody should worry about this. Gamers dont care , as long everything is up and running. Investors dont care as long as their transactions go through quickly It would be nice I think to open up new BPs spots in the future , but not because our system us flawed , but because having a more community involved BP could be interesting . Where some UOS is used for community events and stuff .. yeah why not :)

Gamers may not care in a world where this is relatively nascent technology, but in the web3 world, it does matter and people will aggressively defend its importance and most likely call us out for it if it does not improve. To assume because gamers don’t currently care, that they would not care about it in the future, may be flawed logic. Though I suspect that the game developers would/should care more. Decentralisation is usually a spectrum of course, and rarely achieved in a way that would satisfy the evangelicals… but if even I’m raising eyebrows at there only being 7, I see it as such a predictable FUD-vector for competitors to claim superiority against. Personally, I don’t think taking the ‘it won’t/doesn’t matter’ stance will be the right response to this criticism in the future as we gain more traction. I expect this question to come up a lot in the future as we start to raise our status in web3 gaming. If we want to be known as the web3 gaming platform, we should value/be championing the fundamental principle of web3. So yeah, I love your idea of the community being able to get involved a little more. Not to mention the obvious thirst for UOS yield-bearing opportunities amongst the community 😂

there is so called blockchain trilemma - security, scalability and decentralization. So which one would you sacrifice for a better decentralization? I think Ultra picked correctly and main focus is on scalability and security for games is needed the most. And its not like its just one node... there are 7 trusted nodes and I you cant compare that one-to-one as if random people would spin up those nodes.. its not the same.

I havent heard any updates regarding this topic , since until now the system has worked great . Blockchain is super stable and we havent had any issues until now. Are you asking maybe on the lines of opening up new BP slots?
