This is likely a true statement and it sucks. A solution was implemented (and hasn't truly been retested) but yes this derailed a lot of fomo regarding Ergo.
[bbbandit1] Are you talking about the ethereum POW to POS switch? I think that there is a lot of merit to the idea that Ergo would have been the primary POW alternative at that time, but the significant issues on chain caused a huge hit to the momentum of the project at that time.
Yeah the difficulty block time took hours or days to adjust after the spike which turned off miners and users alike.
