0.3% , they should change it to "pay us to stake". What determines the APR?
There is a formula behind it, the more is staked, the lower the rewards, but this will probably change in the future when there is more network revenue. i don’t mind it that much tbh, the HBARs in treasury shouldn’t be wasted too much on staking rewards, it’s maybe better to use them for building the ecosystem
Yes as long as a lot of HBAR is being stakes no need to do more to incentives securing the network. With the blockchain I run a node with, they share part of every transaction cost with the stakers and the other part of the transaction cost is burned forever. The more people stake the less the APR but it is fixed at a maximum low of 5% if not mistaken.
The staking APR is capped to 2.5%, as voted for by the Hedera govening council. When there are less than 85 million HBAR in the staking rewards wallet (0.0.800), the APR will gradually reduce to 0 once there are no more HBAR to distribute as rewards. If there are more than 85 million HBAR in the staking rewards wallet (0.0.800), the APR is 2.5%. IIRC The HBAR Foundation initially funded staking rewards, but it doesn't appear that that've continued to do so Currently in 0.0.800 there are 9 million HBAR, well below the 85 million threshold; and slowly decreasing.

Yeap! I don't think it's shown on there but you can calculate the balance of 0.0.800 over time by querying the mirror node as well which is kinda interesting. Current balance (May 19): 9,033,659 Jan 1 2024: 22,668,306 August 1 2023: 25,325,757 Jan 1 2023: 213,555,409
