USD as the collateral make more sense?

To clarify, I was talking about the importance of having stability in the value of the collateral. If chainlink services are implicitly priced in dollars, then that changes the demand of link as its linkusd changes. I'm not saying I want usd as the staking currency as you can see from the next comment.
The service costs are not the same thing as the economic security for the value of the contracts involved which can be secured by a pool of LINK, which may include thresholds with reserves to overcome volatility, eventually that will smooth out as the LINK token should be more reflective of actual productivity rather than entirely speculation as per crypto to date.
Yea, that's basically what I said next, thresholds with reserves to overcome volatility -> the buffer I was talking about. I don't think we're in disagreement here.
