Threads is owned by meta or Instagram and certainly those who own Instagram and Facebook gets advertised all the time. So there's a market for that. I haven't heard of mastadon

Not only that, users and advertisers are leaving due to it being radicalized or becoming haven for far right users. I believe millennials are heading to threads and are on tiktok as Twitter is becoming a platform for old people.

Mastodon is more confusing. Bsky and threads usually get most of the exodus each time. Most recently for letting blocked people read your stuff
