I'm sure I read that China just partnered with the ripple block chain in conjunction with 'lian lian' to use xrp for cross boarder payments. It would possibly explain the recent increase in price.

I think it's the xrp works together with this many companies and banks thing. People coming from the normal world they know to crypto and think banks are successful these companies are successful so xrp has to be successful too. But crypto works on a completely different level. For a big chunk of the early adopters it's about decentralisation and decreasing the power banks and institutions have. For the newer investors who are in the space for a bit it's mostly about making money so we see all these meme tokens going to billions. Xrp major argument was how cheap the tx are and how many it can handle to get these "partnerships". However since then many many chains launched that can handle significantly more transactions cheaper and faster. While non of the xrp partners have ever implemented xrp in a way to handle transactions (as far as I know) I highly doubt when it would come to using a Blockchain for transactions that they would still go with xrp.
