Yo question - so I have my ledger linked to

my metamask. Hypothetically, if someone got my seed phrase for my metamask, I would still be safe right? they would need my ledger seed phrase to have access to drain me?

Technically yes

The seed phrase in Metamask is of no use for the scammer if there's no money on any of its addresses.

You would need too change your Metamask as this would be compromised yet your money in the ledger or hard wallet would be safe

gotcha, since they would need the wallet to confirm transactions

They can install their own wallet, but unless the accounts from that seed phrase contain any money, there's nothing to steal. It's just a bogus account.

I have 2 addresses on my metamask. 1 is linked to my ledger with funds. the other one is empty

Nobody can access the Ledger keys from Metamask. That's the point of having a hardware wallet - the keys never leave the device.

Only if somebody somehow gets the seed phrase of the Ledger...

Yes but with a trezor you can password protect your seed phrase in a hidden wallet so even if you ge robbed you can put a password and it will have zero balance
