your private wallet already. If I was to come from Binance, would I transfer to my wallet using the ethereum network wallet? or should I have the Boba L2 wallet in my metamask?

Have you set up your ETH wallet in Metamask already? If yes, I suggest you first connect with the Boba Gateway and look around a bit. Switch from L1 to L2 etc.
