You mean use? Backing it up is just making copies of the wallet day file. There aren't any easy options that I know of, it's specific to the full client. Tbh, very few users actually need the full client, an SPV client is all 99.99% need, the full client is too heavy. You're going to need the latest version running to get fully up to date, if I was in your position I'd probably use a Linux live CD (or usb) to do a temporary install and clear out all funds to an SPV client instead (dash electrum for example). It would be useful to know why the latest client isn't running for you on windows though, what windows version are you running and is it fully up to date?
