Question about staking If I stake through MetaMask those stakes

become locked on MetaMask or attached to that private key.

Therefore if I then connect a hardware wallet I cannot move those stakes over there correct?

So It would technically be safer if I staked after I have installed my hardware wallet correct ?

You can move your seed over to a hardware wallet no problem and then delete Metamask. Staking from a fresh hardware wallet is technically safer than from a MM seed bc it hasn't touched the internet

Ah yes I guess so. If you used a hardware wallet to access or connect MetaMask I guess your technically connected through hardware at that point.

Yeah I'd suggest doing that for existing stakes to increase security. I too initiated my first stakes from a MM wallet and have since upgraded/migrated to a hardware device.

There’s probably no need. My only stake is ending soon anyways. So I can start fresh on the hardware wallet.

Oh excellent. In that case don't worry about migrating your seed. Just set up your HW wallet as new and move everything over

Will do. Gotta figure all that out. Been watching videos. Pretty new to everything but learning quick. Is there any way to really mess that up? It seems pretty straight forward on setting up…just a little nerve racking.

No its pretty straight forward. Just follow all the steps. Make sure to not enter your new seed in anywhere on your computer. Everything is done through the physical hardware device.
