they want to use a hot wallet (i.e. Ledger) is it possible to link the new wallet to your ETH adress and manage your stakes from there?
nope . The wallet that staked it is the one that controls those stakes
Oh thanks... So if you get a hot wallet down the road, you need to create a new Eth adress and start from scratch there... Is that correct?
Ledger is a cold wallet
You can export your seed phrase to your brand new wallet using the techniques described at hexsafe.win
Great!! Thanks!!! I'll check it out
He can connect his ledger to his MM (from where he staked) and have it secured, right? It will give it a second layer of protection, same as if he had his MM connected to his ledger before he made the stakes. Or am I completely swimming in mayo? 😂
You need to export the seed phrase out of the wallet that did the stakes. Then you start up your hardware wallet and restore that phrase onto the it. Then you delete your instance of Metamask, delete all browser cookies and reinstall Metamask. This will create a new Metamask wallet. You then connect that new instance of Metamask to the hardware wallet. It's explained with videos at hexsafe.win
not quite as you describe ... stakes can not be moved - they're tied to the seed words that created them ... those seed words can be "migrated" to a HW, and the original MM (and it's cached seed phrase) deleted ... they'll be protected from malware from then onwards .... BUT HWs can only work with one set of seed words at a time, so you may want another as a more secure "vault" that generated it's own seed words properly on the device.

Copy that. Thank you. Half-swimming in mayo 😆
I think I am. But there’s always that little bit of uncertainty because sh*t can happen at any point. ☺️
Yes you can. You import your hot wallet phrases to your ledger. And remove all digital copy of your phrases from your computer .. remove metamask etc and reinstall it back
yup, that's what I said.
