sets us apart from LRC or MATIC? I know we're all L2 ETH. But any big differences?
SKALE is a multichain ("multiple blockchain") network like Cosmos and Polkadot. This means that each dApp can be on its own Ethereun-native blockchain, instead of all the dApps sharing just a single chain like in other L2 solutions. SKALE is currently the only mature network of this kind deployed natively on Ethereum. You can see the value of this approach by the simple fact that MATIC rebranded to Polygon specifically for the purpose of also trying to be a multichain on Ethereum. But in this regard, they've only just pivot in pursuit of building a kind of network that SKALE already has live. LRC, on the other hand, is application-specific (right now focused only on trading), whereas SKALE is a general-purpose application where dApps can freely deploy their smart contract on to.
