An association of German savings banks is looking into offering crypto services to its customers in the form of a crypto wallet. German savings banks serve 50 million customers and hold about one trillion Euros in total. Although the banks are conservative and skeptical about crypto, a combination of massive consumer interest, negative interest rates, and rising inflation are pushing them to at least consider offering crypto services.

The Russian central bank has issued a draft directive banning mutual funds from making crypto investments. Authorities say that the restriction is necessary to protect investors’ funds and rights, and are asking for feedback and proposals on the document until 27 Dec.

Bank of England Deputy Director Sir Jon Cunliffe warned that cryptocurrencies could “theoretically or practically drop to zero”. He had said something similar in October when pressing for more haste in establishing a regulatory framework.
