the security of the Dash Wallet mobile wallet. I am a user of this application on the iOS mobile platform, and I am concerned about the fact that if the phone is lost, then an attacker has the opportunity to gain access to funds using the selection method. When entering a four-digit password, there are no restrictions on the number of attempts. What I suggest: enter a five-digit password using letters and symbols, limit the number of input attempts, which will be 5 times. For example, the password "7mdp%" will be much more reliable than "8195". What do you think about this?
I don't like your password idea. People forgetting and then being locked out would be an even bigger problem. People these days usually set phone passwords in addition to the pin required for the app. So I don't think it's a big deal. I would go so far as to say that perhaps after a series of failed attempts are made, that a timer sets a wait time before another attempt can be made. That's what Trezor does.
Thanks for answer! 😎👍
Do you have a hardware wallet? A cool feature in trezor is the retry time doubles each time, a few dozen attempts and you have to wait more than a year. Not sure how that could work with a (hackable) application but it would kick ass.
I think that makes sense as an option. I wouldn't want it to be default for the reasons Kalon mentioned. You can ask the devs on Discord to implement it. I don't think they're listening here.
