So you might ask why the bridge isn't open all

of the time if its working? It's down to the amount of circulating coins on each chain. There are limits in place to stop everyone wanting to hold erc20 and the native coin would have lower Liquidity which would hurt merchants and kucoin and Huobi etc The same analogy is having two tills at a bureau de change, one full of dollars and one full of pounds. If everyone who came to the window had dollars and wanted to swap them to pounds you couldn't just keep doing it, you wouldn't have any pounds left at some point.... Imagine you had merchants who relied on those pounds, the whole system would come to a screeching halt with liquidity. Hope that explains why there's a cap to prevent low liquidity
