to lock 1000 ZIL for 12 months, you would receive your 13% interest (as you do for staking now), but by the end of the 12 month lock in period, you'd of also received 1000 BZIL as well?

I'm not sure how bzil will work. But I can tell you about azil. When you staked your zil with Avely Finance you get azil. You can withdraw it using standard withdrawal procedure (30800 blocks) and get zil + rewards or you can trade it on dex, you can also send it to someone else, it's transferable. If other defi projects will decide to use it - they can also do that.
